EDSA Then and Now: A talk about the Edsa revolution in ’86 and the present fight for democracy
Ortigas Foundation Library
About the Talk
It has been 24 years since the historic 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution took place and yet the country is still mired in the very same old problems of poverty, corruption and social inequality that EDSA 1 sought to address and defeat. Sadly, as we can see in our society today, these problems have remained and persisted. Does this, in anyway, mean that our glorious February Revolution was a failure?
In this talk, Mr. Lino Rivera, managing director of the iamninoy-iamcory Movement, will show us anew the relevance and importance of EDSA today. EDSA might seem a very distant memory of the past but whether we admit it or not, there is still a strong yearning among Filipinos to finally accomplish and fulfill the dreams we dreamed before. If it were People Power that brought down a dictatorship 24 years ago, then it would still be the renewed spirit of People Power that will finally enable us to bring down the problems of poverty and corruption.
