K.I.D.S. Foundation: What can you sacrifice to make a young adult become a better citizen?

Youth development is an emerging concern for various non-government organizations worldwide. The role of the youth is critical in the progress of any nation. Youth development is a process in which the youth learn to work with the people surrounding him – from family to community. It is a journey where guidance is highly needed and proper education must be provided. As such, is it important that their families and communities provide them with the support necessary for them to be the best individuals they could be.

Seeking to uphold “the best that humanity can offer,” Kabataang Inyong Dapat Suportahan (K.I.D.S.) Foundation has a wide-array of programs and projects that enable committed volunteers and civic-minded citizens to work together in empowering the disadvantaged and marginalized youth of the society.

Since youth development is about people, programs, and institutions, KIDS foundation and its partners created opportunities for the youth that would enable them to better themselves. Currently, they have the following programs: R.E.D. (Reduce, Eliminate, Decrease) Undernutrition; Isang Milyong Aklat; Isang Milyong Pangarap; 100 KIDScholars; Out of the Streets, Into the Courts; A Trek to Remember; and Financial Grants and Merienda to PGH (Philippine General Hospital) and POC (Philippine Orthopedic Center).

What sacrifice will you make?  Volunteerism matters in KIDS Foundation. To give a portion of your time to volunteer in any of its programs could already make an impact to the youth being helped by the organization.  Or you may help the foundation in funding their programs. Though the financial crisis calls us to be frugal, this should not hinder us
to share with others what we have. Sharing a few does not hurt especially if we have more and such an act of kindness is incomparable with the kind of happiness that we would gain from doing our part in forming the youth to become responsible citizens.
