Ninoy Stamps Available Now
In celebration of its 110th anniversary, the Philippine
Postal Corporation (PhilPost) came out with commemorative
stamps in honor of the 25th year of Ninoy Aquino's Martyrdom.
A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed between
Postmaster General Hector R.R. Villanueva and Rafael
"Rapa" C. Lopa, Executive Director of the
Benigno S. Aquino, Jr. Foundation (BSAF) last October
22, 2008 at the Central Post Office in Liwasang Bonifacio,
Manila.
PMG Villanueva expects that the Ninoy Aquino Stamp
will serve as a timely reminder for future generations
of the ideals Ninoy fought for. "His sacrifices
to restore out rights and freedom through non-violence
will forever live in the hearts and minds of our countrymen,"
he said.
It is hoped that the stamps will contribute to the iamninoy campaign
in its effort promote Ninoy's legacy and enforce in
the youth his beliefs and values towards a country all
Filipinos truly deserve. It also aims to encourage a
sense of heroism among ordinary people from all walks
of life.
The Postmaster General believes that everyone should
play their part in the monumental effort to rebuild
the country. "We can all make an impact, whether
big or small, to create positive change for the nation,"
he added.
