iamninoy Team Visits St. Anthony's Boy's Village
To witness firsthand the programs and projects of the
St. Anthony Boy's Village (SABV), Mr. Rapa Lopa along
with the iamninoy team visited the Rogationist College compound in Silang,
Cavite last September 25. SABV has been named by retail
partner Rudy Project to be the beneficiary of a percentage
of sales from their iamninoy merchandise.
SABV is home to about 120 high school scholars educated
and housed in the complex. Referred to as interns, most
of them come from poor families including those who
have been orphaned or were abandoned by their parents.
Becoming an SABV scholar greatly improves a young boy's
chances of succeeding in life by providing him the chance
to receive proper education, sufficient nutrition and
free lodging. However, in return, the scholar must take
his studies seriously. They are encouraged to excel
in school to be able to get into good colleges or universities.
Those who were diligent enough to finish their undergraduate
studies will be assisted in finding employment in the
companies around the area. The courses offered in the
school are geared more towards technical skills to further
improve their eligibility to find work.
Aside from looking after the material and academic
needs of the interns, they are also provided a home
that is rooted on Christian values and selfless giving.
Father Carlos Guzman, one of the academic advisers,
toured the group around the school grounds as well as
the scholars' housing facilities. The team had a chance
to meet some of the scholars and their bright eyes and
wide smiles were truly heartwarming, giving the team
stronger resolve to fight for these kids' future. Support
the boys by purchasing Rudy Project items or giving
to them directly as a benefactor.
The Foundation of the Saint Anthony's Boys Village
in Cavite is the first "Anthonian Orphanage"
of the Rogationists in the Philippines. The compound
inaugurated on June 13, 1987 by then Papal Nuncio, His
Excellency Bruno Torpigliani, and His Eminence, the
late Jaime Cardinal Sin. A similar facility was built
in Davao housing 50 scholars. |
